Communication or lack of.......
Once again sitting back in a waiting room, so many thoughts, feelings, and emotions were swarming around. I remember an activity I use to do in a creative writing class. The teacher would say, for the next minute, write down everything that comes to mind, no censoring, no right or wrong.
I decided to do this exercise and here is the results:
scared
nervous
un sure
frustration
anger
why?
when will we get answers
is this seriously a hospital
how can every dr. say something else
when is this pain going to go away
can any one help me
happy that Javier is with me
oww Javi has a hard shoulder to lay on :)
Wow amazing how much and how random your thoughts can be in just one minute of time.
When the NP came in, she started asking how the procedures she thought I had went. At that point , the annoyance started setting in, I mean seriously how did she not know I didn't have any procedures done. As I started to explain to her what had happened she had already paged and gotten a phone call back from the GI PA. This increased my frustration and annoyance because we had been waiting for a call back for 4 days. My frustration increased as she told us that the PA said I had denied the procedure dates I was given. I was also scheduled for appointments we were not contacted about. First and only contact from the scheduler told us I had the choice of Sunday to Monday or Thursday to Friday, looking in the system she told us I was in the system for the procedure on Wednesday. The PA told the NP, that the dr. was not even available that day and was unaware of who had scheduled that. Conclusion, she told us they were gonna call us as soon as they had a new date for us.
The poor communication continued as we were sent to check out and check in for infusion. We sat in the waiting room for quite a long time. People were coming and being called in, the waiting would fill and then clear out as we continued to wait. Javier went down got breakfast and came back and I was still in same spot when he came back. Finally we ask and the nurse, one of my favorites:), even if she does stick me with needles:), said they had to track down my dr, cuz she failed to put in any orders for me. Also it just happens that the tracking system was not working. Finally orders in, infusion completed and off we went.
End of the day we still had no date for procedure, however, we were told we would be receiving a call from the scheduler with in 48 hours........ still waiting...
